Laura Williams, Ph.D.
Laura L. Williams, PhD is an Ohio-licensed clinical psychologist and independent contractor. She has worked with clients in a private practice setting for nearly 20 years.
During the first half of her career, Dr. Williams' practice focused on childhood/adolescent anxiety and depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as well as psychological evaluations to assess for learning disorders, ADHD, and diagnostic clarification. Over the past ten years, Dr. Williams has focused solely on therapy with adolescents and young adults, ages 14 to 30.
Dr. Williams favors a collaborative approach to therapy, relying on the client's input for goal development and assessment of progress. Her techniques include cognitive-behavioral, insight-oriented and mindfulness-based approaches. Areas of interest include anxiety (general and social), depression, ADHD and identity development.
Dr. Williams earned her undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Michigan. She then earned both her master's and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology with a child and adolescent specialty from The Ohio State University; her research focused on childhood anxiety. Upon graduation, she worked with children and adolescents in an outpatient behavioral health clinic. She is a member of the American Psychological Association.
