Executive Function Counseling
What are Executive Functions?
The brain's executive functions are the mechanisms by which we prioritize and manage our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They include: planning, organization, time management, working memory, task initiation, self-monitoring, and emotional control. These functions may be disrupted by neurodevelopmental conditions (Autism, ADHD) and emotional disorders (depression, anxiety etc.)
What does Executive Function Counseling entail?
Dr. Carol Skinner, Ph.D. offers executive function counseling to adolescents and adults. This service helps participants learn skills that help them organize their time and materials, get started on and prioritize tasks, plan out and complete projects and work, use strategies for memorization, and improve motivation. Executive counseling is tailored to meet the individuals needs and vary in the number of sessions required depending on the client.
